The Evening with The Authors Session at TLA
Holly Weimar
I want you and all of the TASL Membership to know how very much my guest and I enjoyed our "Evening with the Authors" Thursday night. What a highlight of my conference! The view was exquisite, the meal was delectable, the visiting with other librarians was stimulating (always love it!) and the authors' presentations were impressive. I felt so very special and you made it all possible. Thank you for recognizing the value of continued membership in TASL; I felt very appreciated!...and honestly, I feel like I should be the one giving you gifts as I thank you and all of the officers for your hours of volunteer service. It has been my honor to be a member of TASL.
Gratefully,
Kay Wallingford
TASL Board Meeting
Holly Weimar
TASL Board meetings are open for attendance.
Jackie Chetzron, Chair, opened the TASL Board meeting with news of how busy TASL has been this year, especially since it is a legislative year. TASL brought about 25 programs to TLA. Also this year, we began a collaborative partnership with PTA. The award that came from that partnership will be an annual award.
For professional development opportunities for school librarians, we are looking at August 3 (tentative) for a Leadership Institute that will be co-sponsored by ProQuest to help cover some of the costs. ProQuest will also help sponsor an Advocacy Institute Preconference at TLA in San Antonio. These institutes will be 7 1/2 hours of content and are licensed through AASL.
All committees reported on the great work that they are doing. Here is a list of committees if you are unfamiliar with all of them:
